JOSHUA TREE GATE PHOTOS

  a closer view
Here is a shot that showcases the three dimensionality of the gate. Also the open top gives comfort knowing the majestic Joshua tree is not boxed in.

But the majestic Joshua Tree doesn't live in the desert alone.
Here are some details added by the artist to enhance the appearance of this gate. Far left is a saguaro made from a couple of pieces of rebar. Center is an ocotillo plant, also made from rebar. On the right is a tiny century plant with copper flowers.

  the rock-studded handle
The handles of this grand gate are embellished with rocks the artist handpicked from the Verdi River close to his shop. They are fastened like jewels to a bar to fashion a natural looking pull. How much more natural can you get than rocks?

These pieces of the trunk of the tree are in the first stages of the fabrication process. First they were drawn to scale, then cut out with a plasma cutting machine.

  metal pieces and tools
Here the pieces are going through the monotonous process of being formed with a ball peen hammer.
